Diverse EYSC Youth-Adult Partnerships in Rural Nebraska

University of Nebraska-Extension 4-H Youth Development has received support for 6 years through National 4-H Council for a USDA/CSREES Rural Youth Development project called Engaging Youth Serving Community (EYSC) and Youth In Governance. Communities receive funds to support training for a core team of youth and adults, to conduct community meetings to identify issues, to develop action plans, and to implement activities that produce results for the action plans. Youth and adults work together with all aspects of the project.

Name of Your Project

Three youth leaders and three adults from Lexington attended the 2006 Regional Helping America's Youth Conference in Denver.

Project Vision :

Youth and adults learn about the culture and governance of their community, community organizations and community development. They also learn about issues that have a direct effect on the lives of youth and their families in their community. This project develops leadership and life skills in Nebraska youth so they can work in partnership with adults to improve their own lives and the communities in which they live.
